The MS-2104 uses a split design that separates the lens board from the decoding board. The lens board is only 3 mm thick and can be connected to the decoding board using a 24-pin FPC cable of a suitable length. This structure gives equipment designers greater flexibility when positioning the barcode reader module inside ultra-thin or space-limited products.
With dimensions of 43 × 10 × 3 mm for the lens board and 37 × 19 × 7 mm for the decoding board, the module can be integrated into compact terminals without requiring the installation space of a conventional scanning head. It is particularly suitable for OEM equipment requiring a slim internal structure.
The MS-2104 features a relatively wide-angle lens designed to provide a closer scanning depth of field than traditional scanning heads. This makes the QR code scanner module suitable for applications where users naturally present a mobile phone or printed code close to the scanning window.
The module supports a QR code depth of field of 30–100 mm for 10 mil codes, while Code 128 can be read from 40–150 mm at 10 mil. With a viewing sensitivity of ±55° tilt, ±55° deflection and 360° rotation, the QR scanner module can accommodate different scanning positions during everyday operation.
The MS-2104 supports both printed and electronic codes, making it more versatile than a single-purpose QR code reader module. Its 2D decoding capability covers PDF417, MicroPDF417, Data Matrix, MaxiCode, QR Code, MicroQR, Aztec and Hanxin, while supported 1D symbologies include UPC, EAN, Code 128, Code 39, Code 93, Code 11, Codabar, Interleaved 2 of 5 and GS1 DataBar, among others.
With a 640 × 480 image sensor, white 6500K LED illumination, ≥5 mil accuracy and ≥25% contrast, the MS-2104 can be used as a compact QR reader module for applications that need to read different code types from paper labels, tickets, documents and mobile phone screens.
The MS-2104 supports USB, USB COM, USB-HID, RS232 and TTL communication, allowing the bar code scanner module to be integrated with different host systems and embedded equipment. Its DC 3.3–5V working voltage also supports integration into compact electronic devices with different power requirements.
The module operates from -20°C to +60°C and can be stored from -40°C to +80°C, with 5–95% non-condensing working humidity and ambient light tolerance of 0–100,000 lux. It also withstands 2000 G mechanical vibration and a 1.2 m drop onto a concrete floor, providing practical durability for embedded equipment used in demanding environments.
The Masung MS-2104 barcode scanner module is suitable for PDA devices, visitor machines, access control systems, identity OCR authentication equipment, facial recognition machines and queuing systems. Its ultra-thin split structure and close scanning capability make it particularly suitable for self-service terminals, identity verification equipment and other compact OEM devices where installation space is limited and both paper and mobile QR codes need to be scanned.
