The MS-483 is designed with a highly compact structure measuring only 21.2 × 14 × 10.2 mm and weighing approximately 3.5 g. This small footprint allows the barcode reader module to be integrated into various self-service terminals without taking up significant internal space.
The module is particularly suitable for equipment where the available installation area is limited. Its compact design makes it easier for equipment manufacturers to incorporate the QR reader module into existing product structures and customised OEM designs.
The MS-483 supports a broad selection of 2D symbologies, including QR Code, Data Matrix, PDF417, Hamming Code and DotCode. It also reads 1D formats such as UPC-A, UPC-E, EAN-8, EAN-13, ISBN, Code 128, GS1-128, ISBT 128, Code 39, Code 93, Code 11, Interleaved 2 of 5, Industrial 2 of 5, Codabar, MSI Plessey and GS1 DataBar.
With recognition accuracy of ≥5 mil for 2D codes and ≥4 mil for 1D barcodes, the QR code reader module can handle different code sizes and formats. Optional OCR functionality supports the OCR-B font standard, allowing the QR reader module to be used in applications requiring both barcode and selected character recognition.
The MS-483 adopts an industrial-grade circuit protection design to provide stable operation in embedded equipment. It supports a contrast ratio of ≥20%, sensitivity of ±50° tilt, ±55° deflection and 360° rotation, and a diagonal field of view of 52° for the MS-483.
Communication options include USB, USB COM, TTL3.3V and TTL5V, while an optional adapter board can provide RS-232 connectivity. The barcode scanner module operates from 3.3V ±0.3V and supports working temperatures from -30°C to +70°C, storage temperatures from -40°C to +80°C, humidity from 5–95% non-condensing and ambient illumination from 0 to 100,000 lux.
The Masung MS-483 QR scanner module is mainly designed for financial self-service terminals, including VTM machines, ATMs, intelligent lockers, access control machines, self-service enquiry terminals and queue-calling systems. Its ultra-compact structure, flexible communication options and 1D/2D code recognition make this barcode reader module particularly suitable for embedded self-service equipment and OEM applications where installation space is restricted.
